Jean Bothwell

American author. Although born in the USA, she spent many years working as a missionary in India. When she retuned home and began writing, a lot of her books were about India. She wrote mainly historical, mysteries and children's fiction, along with some non-fiction. Two of her children's books feature horses and both these are also set in India.

SUMMARY: Set in India. Jivan gets a job as a horseboy, unaware that the trip he takes with the black horse will play a large part in his destiny.

THE EMERALD CLUE

SUMMARY: Set in India. When Tara discovers that Raj-Raj her favourite horse has been stolen she sets off to look for him, despite it not being proper behaviour for an Indian girl!

Fairly easy to find in the USA. Much harder elsewhere.
